Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and fellow of the World Academy of Sciences, the director of the Institute of High Energy Physics of CAS

He is an experimental particle physicist, and the chairman of the High Energy Physics Division of the Chinese Physical Society and the Nuclear Electronics and Detection Technology Branch of the Chinese Nuclear Society. For his outstanding contribution to particle physics, he won many honors and awards including the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics and the First Class National Natural Science Award in 2016.
