Hervé Chneiweiss

Director of the Laboratory Neuroscience Paris Seine - IBPS, Chair of International Bioethics Committee, UNESCO and Member of WHO Expert Advisory Committee on Human Genome Editing Governance

He is studying molecular mechanisms involved in glial plasticity and underlying brain tumor development. First trained as a neurologist (movement disorders, Parkinson), he was involved in the neurogenetics of human diseases such as cerebellar ataxias. For the last 15 years, his scientific work was dedicated to the biology of astrocytes and their roles in brain tumor progression. He created in 2006 the INSERM laboratory U752, which gathered scientists and clinicians devoted to the study of brain tumors. HC is since 2014 director of the laboratory Neuroscience Paris Seine. Privileged technical expertise includes proteomics and cell cultures. He is also involved in bioethics and editor of Medecine/Sciences.
