Dr. Gao, professor and doctor of engineering, has been engaged in material science research as well as science funding management. She has studied metallic materials, high-performance ceramics and nano materials, and organized research on materials science development strategies. She has co-published two monographs, acquired two patents and issued over 50 papers in Physics Review Letters, Applied Physics Letters and Advanced Materials. She was granted the special government allowances of the State Council in 2006, named “Outstanding Female Official of Central Government” in 2007, and honored as “May 1st National Women’s Model” in 2011.
